I don't know about you but housecleaning is not always the most fun thing to do. I would rather be out to dinner with friends or jogging around the marina. House cleaning is a necessity of life. Have you ever considered that "inner" housecleaning is important as well?
In order to be able to achieve your dreams, you need to have a clean house. This is not the house you live in. It is the house within. I am referring to your mind, body and spirit. If this inner house is cluttered, it can scatter your focus, resolve and ability to stay positive about your goals. It can also lower your self esteem and make you feel undeserving to receive those things in your life that you have identified as your personal goals.
When someone comes by your home and it is not neat, how do you feel? Embarrassed? Depressed? Ashamed? When your inner house is not so tidy, you can experience distress and negative feelings. So you may need to clean up.
Now that the weather is improving and spring is upon us, it is a great time to do some inner spring cleaning. Here is a simple exercise that you can do as you are physically cleaning up.
Pick a nice sunny day. Open up the doors and windows. Feel the breeze flowing through your house. Pick up a broom and begin to sweep. As you do this, imagine that you are sweeping up your mind, body, emotions and spirit. Clean up all those nagging thoughts, doubts and negative feelings. You are piling them up. Then when you have gathered all those mental dust bunnies, sweep them up in a pan, or even better, right out the door. Feel the emotions and burdens lessen as you do this. You are doing spring cleaning of the soul.
Once you sweep them out, take time to feel the breeze coming through the house. Listen for the sound of song birds. This is your soul singing. You inner house has become clean and uncluttered. Give no more though to what you have swept outside. The spring breeze has carried away these feelings, thoughts and concerns forever.

I'ts always funny to me how the messages come to us when we least expect it. I found you through Twitter the other day and just now got around to reading your most recent blog posts.
This weekend, I spent much of my energy and focus on cleaning up my office - because it was a MESS and because I needed to clear some space for some new stuff to come into my life.
I noticed late (late) last night, for the first time ever, that we were serenaded by birds. Typically we'll hear frogs or coyotes, but not night birds. "Listen for the sound of song birds. This is your soul singing. You inner house has become clean and uncluttered." This is so true.
Thank you.
